The Pratt Institute is a private, non-profit institution highly ranked for programs in architecture, interior, and industrial design. Pratt is based in a 25-acre campus located 1 mile from 630 Flushing Ave. At 630 Flushing Ave, Pratt has launched the Brooklyn Fashion and Design Accelerator (BF+DA) program, a vibrant hub where entrepreneurs build businesses with unparalleled support. BF+DA offers showroom & retail space, conference rooms, kitchen facilities, 30 on-site studios, common sewing machines & 3D printers, and a 3,000 SF multi-disciplinary performance space to entrepreneurial fashion and media designers. Partnering with some of the top fashion schools and brands in the country, Pratt is maximizing leverage for startups by providing affordable resources and expert support. Initial sponsors include: Levi’s, Patagonia, and Eileen Fisher. The new accelerator follows the success of a previous 2002 design program, which helped to create over 30 new companies and more than 50 jobs in the sectors of fashion & product design, social entrepreneurship, and green consulting services.
